There’s a video making the rounds, and it’s getting super popular really fast. In the video, it looks like an eagle is swooping down and snatching up a baby, lifting it for a few seconds. Don’t panic, though – the baby is totally okay.
But it makes you wonder, is this for real? ABC’s Rob Nelson is checking it out to find out what’s really going on.
The comments section on the YouTube video shows the amazed reactions of viewers, with one saying:
“It’s hard to tell if this is real or fake, but I’ve seen chickens taken by hawks.”
And another making jokes:
“You’re absolutely right! Kidnapping is ill-eagle!!!“

Can An Eagle Really Catch A Baby?
The idea of an eagle swooping down and snatching a baby is more myth than reality. While eagles are powerful birds of prey capable of carrying relatively heavy loads, they typically hunt smaller animals like fish, rodents, and small mammals.
The idea of an eagle targeting a human baby is highly unlikely and has not been documented in any credible scientific reports.
Eagles are more likely to avoid humans altogether and would not see a human baby as prey. Additionally, the size and weight of a human baby would make it extremely difficult for an eagle to carry it away.
So, while eagles are indeed impressive hunters, the notion of them snatching babies is largely a product of myth and exaggeration.
